Murugiah | Rangoli Mirrored Cosmos

GMStudio were approached by graphic artist Murugiah to design and develop the form and composition of his Rangoli Mirrored Cosmos public sculpture, which was to be installed outside the 02 Arena in Greenwich, London.

The work was informed by a single concept sketch provided by the artist (image below), which led to the development of three elements; the central ‘stigma’ and two differently sized ‘petal’ forms which could be arranged in a number of different ways.

The sculpture was launched as part of the London Design Festival 2023, and will be seen by the 1.8 million people who visit the 02 Arena each year.
